Specialties CRNA

Hello all, I am looking for more information on the CRNA field. If you could, can people describe where they work, hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, hours worked per week, call taken, work with or without MD supervision, as part of CRNA/MD group, or an employee of a hospital. Are you happy with your current job or are looking for something new? Thanks in advance.

Go meet a CRNA. Hang out in the OR. You will have to see first hand. I love my job. Anesthesia school was the most challenging thing I have ever done in my life. If you want it bad enough you can do it. I work full time taking call ever other week, and 1 weekend a month. I am medically directed by an MDA. I work Locum in a rural hospital where I am a sole provider. I do work over 40 hours a week, but I enjoy my work.

Hope this helps.

Specializes in Nurse Anesthetist.

This question has been asked quite a bit. Go to the SRNA section, you will find tons of answers.

Each CRNA works differently. I work in a very large institution in So Cal. I am Supervised only. Meaning I call the shots, but have an anesthesiologist I can bounce things off of. If I get into trouble, I have an anesthesiologist that will come to the room.

I work 2 days a week, one 16 hr day and one 24 hr day. I love it. Rare weekends, rare holidays.
