Hello, I am currently a nursing student in a BSN program graduating in May 2014. I am exploring my options for after graduation and one is to go to graduate school for PMHNP. I am curious about the current demand for this job in nursing, specifically in New York State. My online search was pretty unsuccessful and I only found a few available jobs. I do not want to complete a degree that I will then have difficulties finding a job! Also interested in hearing from anyone who has this degree to learn more about the job description. Thank you :)

You won't have any issues finding a job, as long as you're willing to move. If you live somewhere rural, the demand might not support another NP coming in,. If you live in a metro area, you'll likely be fine. Even if the market is saturated you'll likely still find a job. Lots of need for psychiatric care providers and very few people pursuing this NP specialty. But if you want a high salary, be willing to move and be sure to negotiate
