I have been hearing lot of stories about AHPRA's extra extra delays in assessing overseas applications. This is after they imposed new requirements (IQNM 2, 3, 8).
Isn't this their measure to control foreign nurses? Shouldn't they hire more assessors to accomodate the influx of applicants?
May I ask those who already lodged their applications to AHPRA:
1. When did you lodge your application?
2. Which state?
3. When did they receive your complete application?
4. When did your respective school/authority send the IQNM requirements?
5. When did AHPRA receive this?
6. Did they give extension/s?
Thank you.

Hi Official02,
Answers to your questions below.
1. I lodge in my application on the 29th October 2013.
2. NSW
3. Full application was submitted in early December 2013 after I had submitted one set of further documentation. When I called in January 2014 they where still waiting for a class D ID document, which they never mentioned was missing. So in full, the application was completed in early January.
4. The new IQNM requirements was sent in in end of March 2014 from my institute.
5. After chasing up if they received the documents, I got an email in beginning of April that they have all sufficient documents.
6. I have had 3 extensions to date. On in February, May and now in August.
My ride has been quite long and frustrating.
According to them they are doing more research to if my school and program was accredited at the time. Unfortunately AHPRA dose not seem to understand that different countries have different way of accrediting or auditing schools and program's. In the letter it also stated that I should seek other employments for the time being.

That's an unfortunate event. May I know from what country are you from?
Initial degree is from Finland. But I have also worked in Ireland and also have a registration in Sweden.
Have you asked them what research are they conducting about your school? Are they visiting these schools? And wouldn't the pro forma letters that our schools and accrediting authorities sent to them suffice?
They are doing further research of the accreditation policy in Finland, and other countries with similar issues. And no, they will not visit the school, I am not really sure what kind of research they are really doing. Although my school sent in the forms that was given by AHPRA, they seem not be sufficient enough.
I suppose that will be much easier but still it's taking too long.
Are you in Australia right now?
yes, have been in Australia since november 2012.
