December New Grad GA board application

Published

Is anyone else having trouble applying to initial RN licensure on the GA Board of Nursing website? They say it will be available at a later date for December grads, yet a few in my classmates were able to submit applications a couple of days ago. My understanding is we have to submit this in order to get permission to take NCLEX. Do you all think submitting a paper application right now will help it get processed faster? I just want to take boards as soon as possible after graduation!

No....the GBON wont even process you stuff until they have your transcripts that the school sends them after graduation. The amount of time it takes to process your information depends on when your school sends them the information.THEN they approve you for NCLEX once all that goes through..The amount of time you're looking at is at least 30 days....(at least thats how it was with my school and many other schools)

OK, thanks, didn't realize about the transcripts part. My instructor said the earliest she has ever seen someone take boards is 12 days after graduation. I'll settle for that!

Expect it to take anywhere from a week to 6 weeks to get your Authorization to Test letter. Then, depending on where you test, the first available appointment may not be for several weeks. I paid all my fees the 10th of October, went for my fingerprinting on the 11th. I received my Authorization to Test November 14th. The first available test date for Atlanta was December 12th @ 8 am. Just to give you an idea.

Wow! God is looking out for me! I graduated Saturday, got my ATT Monday, and I am taking my test only 10 days after graduation in the city where I live :) I'm so nervous and excited!

Good luck on NCLEX!!! Remember to relax, breathe, and don't second guess yourself!! You're going to do great!

After 30 minutes of testing, my NCLEX cut off at 84 questions, and I came out terrified! My license # was posted on the GA BON website yesterday.
