Dec 11 grad - when to apply (CLT area)

U.S.A. North Carolina

Just wondering for recent grads - when do you start applying for positions as you prepare for graduation? I will finish in December & hope to take the NCLEX as quickly as possible. Thanks!

I am not a recent new grad but from personal experience I think it would be a good idea to start applying before you graduate. I myself waited awhile after graduation to take my NCLEX and by then my classmates who took their NCLEX and applied right way were already starting their new jobs and I was just beginning to search for jobs. And here I am today still searching for my first nursing job, so if I could go back I would of started searching and applying months before I graduated. I think it may look better on your application if there is less of a gape in between graduating and job searching, but that is just my personal opinion. Anyways good luck on job searching!

thanks for your response, tana_sou. I actually just found a link on CMC's website regarding new grad hiring & it says that they post new grad positions for Dec grads in September. Presby's site says it recommends starting up to 6 months prior to graduation - but, that seems a little ambitious to me. I couldn't find much on Presby's new grad program, the website only said to apply for open RN positions and indicate the intention to apply for the nursing internship??? Called the contact for Presby in June & still haven't heard back :(
