The nursing department goes by a scoring system now. You can still apply but someone who has already taken the course will have more points than you, even if you have a higher GPA. I’ll attach the file.
I’m applying on Friday. Im currently taking Oral Communication and Humanities, so I will have 2 classes without points but I have A’s in all other pre-/co- req classes so I’m hoping that’ll help with where I rank.
Good luck to you!

Hello all! My name is Genavieve. I was accepted into St Johns River State Colleges nursing program and unfortunately they kicked me out because I moved. A set back but I must keep moving forward. I am in the process of applying to Daytona State College. I have reached out to the nursing department and they were not able to give me clear answers about anything so I am struggling to know where I stand. I have taken my TEAS and got 81% percentile over all. I also did well on the Math and Reading portions. I have a GPA of 3.6-3.8 (I am still waiting on my transcripts to officially transfer). My only real concern is that I do not have my Oral Presentation class completed because my recent college did not require it. Daytona is saying that I can still apply regardless of having that class completed but I am still skeptical. Fellow pre-nursing/nursing students, is having this class completed prior to the program an absolute must? I do not know the ins and outs of this program so any and all advice is greatly appreciated! If you've made it this far, thank you so much for reading.
