Not really sure how to use public discussion boards. Want to discuss Nubain or now known as Nalbuphine. I was given Nubain during labor and delivery as an antagonist/analgesic for itching from the Sufenta. My son had respiratory depression, cyanosis, apnea, fetal bradycardia (basically everything you see in the warning label for labor and delivery that they finally changed in 2003)--he has neurological and some physical problems. I would like more information, PLEASE--especially from nurses who have seen these reactions. At the time of my son's birth, information was not on the package insert or PDR to indicate the horrendous ramifications of using this drug. The only warning then was pretty much "careful. can cause respiratory depression in PRETERM baby"--label is completely different now. Can anyone help? or put me in contact with mothers who's babies had the side effects mentioned? thank you.

Per term of services we are not allowed to give medical advice.
With preterm infants respiratory depression is quite common, and unlike adults a newborn's response to hypoxia is bradycardia.
Every drug has the potential to have severe side-effects.
