I am presently taking pre reqs toward a nursing degree -- currently volunteering for a local hospice to get some experience and decide on an area. I was speaking with one of the hiring peolple, and he mentioned he was actively looking for RNs in the metro area to work as an educator and consultant to help famlies receive hospice services. I was thinking this could be an interesting opportunity for an RN who wanted to stay close to the medical field but not necesarily continue one-on-one patient care. There would be a lot of interaction with families and other professionals, career flexibility and autonomy. Anyone with background working in long term care or with the elderly might like this switch. The job seems to pay well, and FYI: I am really impressed with the level of hospice care from this company.
