For those of you in school now, did any of you solely work in the NICU or PICU before school? How are you doing and handling your program? Do you feel at a disadvantage compared to your classmates that came from adult ICUs? I have a total of 5 years, but I'm starting to get nervous that I should have gotten some SICU (open heart) experience. I did some shadowing, and now I'm really freaking out. School begins in two weeks - I keep having these recurrent dreams (never ever had recurrent dreams before this). In the dreams, I show up for a final exam for a class that I didn't attend all semester, in other ones, i miss my bus, or I show up late, or without socks... I'm sure you're getting the underlying theme here.

Take a deep breath and chill. You will be ok. Yes you may struggle more with CV things such as drugs, hemodynamic interpretations ect ect but you will be stronger in PEDS and neuro. I with no RN PEDI experience have more difficutly and and stressed with the kids and babies, no doubt. You will just have to put in more work in those areas.
Thank you. I guess I'm just having the expected pre-school anxiety.
