Hi,
Thank you for looking into this question!
I am a current midwifery student and am working on a budgeting project regarding CNM laborists. I have a few questions that I am having trouble finding the answers to and am wondering if anyone would have any insight. I would greatly appreciate it! Much of the info I am after is looking into salaries, and I understand that this is private information so please do not post your exact salary: rather a general range of what you have seen in practice!
1. What is your annual salary? Is this for full time or part time work? Are full benefits include?
2. What does your shift look like? For example, do you work 3 12 hour shifts a week? 7 on 7 off? Ect.
3. Do you participate as a surgical assist for C-Sections? If so, what are you reimbursed/is this included in your annual salary or as a separate source of income.
3. In an average month (or day) how many patients do you see who do not have their own provider/did not have prenatal care or who are having a precipitous delivery?
4. How often (average per month or average per day), do you need an MD/DO consult?
5. Do you also work as a CNM in a different capacity: having your own patient load/working outpatient?
6. On average how many OB triages do you see per month/per shift?
7. Roughy how many deliveries does your hospital have each month and how many laborists does your hospital employ?
Again, thank you so much for your insight! I am looking forward to an exciting career in the midwifery field!
