CU Denver College of Nursing, Applying Aug 1, 2013

Published

Hello everyone, I'm applying for the nursing program on Aug 1st( hoping to start in Aug 2014) and I'm super nervous because this is my first time applying to a university. I just finished my pre-reqs for nursing at my current community college and I'm afraid my pre-req GPA is not high enough, 3.40. Do I have any hope? Has anyone been accepted to CU Denver nursing program with the same GPA or lower? Please share.

Also, I attended two community colleges: one in California and my current one in Texas. Does anyone know if they will combine the GPA's from both colleges? I left my first college with a GPA of 2.69 and I currently have a GPA of 3.92 in the TX college. Is CU Denver going to go by my combined GPAs, Prereq & Science GPA, or my current GPA from my 2nd college? This is really confusing me. I asked advisors, but one said they will only look at my prereq GPA and the other said they will only look at my current college GPA. It would be nice to hear from people who have completed the program, are currently in the program, or have just been accepted to the nursing program.

ajuarez89,

I was recently accepted into the program. From my understanding the essay is the most important factor in being accepted, pre-req GPA next, and then overall GPA. I spent a lot of time and effort on the essay. My pre-req GPA was high, but overall GPA was not impressive. Hope this helps.

Congratulations! You are sooo lucky. =) I want to get accepted to their nursing program more than anything. And thank you for your response. I guess it's about time to begin that essay of mine. Any advice? I'm really nervous and I want to do great on it. Did you include any nurse volunteer or job shadowing on your essay?

congratulations honu13!! i am still working on my essay. and just like ajuarez89, i want to get in the nursing program more than anything.
