Does anyone know which has a better generic/ basic BSN program? I know SDSU is more reputable and CSUSM is newer but I don't know much beyond that about either. CSUSM is closer to me as far as distance goes but I don't want that to be the deciding factor. If anyone has advise I'd be SO grateful/ appreciative!

I am looking for the same information. I plan on applying to CSUSM for Fall 2012 generic. This is after I attended some classes at National (regular not nursing) and decided that it wasn't for me.

They're both good programs. I will tell you that SDSU is very very competitive. That's not to say that CSUSM is easy to get into. Apply to both and if you're lucky, you'll get to choose which school you go to
BTW- I graduated from CSUSM, but know people who go/have gone to SDSU
Thank you for responding! I have provisional acceptance to both programs and I'm waiting to see if I get final acceptance, I find out next week (fingers crossed)
Is it true that CSUSM has a partnership with palomar hospital that guarantees a job after graduating? I heard that it's getting more difficult for new grads to find nursing jobs now despite the shortage, is that true? Sorry for all the questions!

good luck! from what i've heard they're both good. any idea when sdsu notifies people?
They're supposed to let us know the first week of July
We do have a partnership with Palomar hospital, but it does NOT guarantee a job after graduating. About half of my graduating class is still without jobs (last I heard). The new grad situation is not a good one in San Diego, or any major metropolitan area in California really. You'll learn about the economics involved with nursing, and will understand why. My advice is to just be flexible, and you'll be ok.
