CSU Fullerton or Long Beach??

Nurses General Nursing

Hi,

I recently got accepted to both CSU Long Beach and Fullerton for their EL-MSN. I never made it to the Long Beach informational session and I don't know what their program offers. I went to Fullerton's and they have a midwifery program, an anesthesiologist program, etc. Does anyone have any advise which program may be better? I've looked all over the internet and really can't find much.

I appreciate any help. Thanks so much!

Fullerton and go for the anesthesiologist program because you can get government grants and scholarships to pay for it.

Thank you for the advise.:)

Hi D.Lynn, Long beach has a couple of Nurse Practitioner programs (Geriatric, Pediatric and more) and Long beach also awards a BSN after the first 16 months and a masters after the last 16 months, whereas Fullerton just awards you your master's after 3 years if you do the whole program full time.

Have you decided on which program is best for you yet?

Hey KRomney,

I haven't decided yet, I was leaning towards Fullerton but after researching more, Long Beach may be a better choice. I called Fullerton and spoke to an advisor and she said that you can't go wrong with either school but I feel like earning a BSN along with the MSN is more beneficial. I'm a bit of an indecisive person as is and I really want to make the best choice. Ultimately, I figure they're both great schools and either one will be a good choice. So, that's where I stand, thanks for the help. :)

Well Congratulations for getting in to both of them, they really are both great schools! I agree with you though that getting the BSN and then the MSN will be beneficial in the long run, especially if you plan on moving out of state. Fullerton had some trouble with their grads moving out of state and them not being awarded a BSN. I just looked through Fullerton's and Long Beach's websites. It seems that..

Fullerton offers: Nursing Leadership, CRNA, Nurse midwife, Nurse Educator

Long Beach offers: Family NP, Adult NP, Pediatric NP, Psychiatric NP, Women's Health NP, Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Care and Clinical Nurse Specialist in Community Health and Public Health.... As a student you would also enter these programs sooner than you would if you went to Fullerton.

Good luck with your decision, you will figure out which one is better if you have a good understanding as to what you want to end up doing in the long run!! I hope i'll be as lucky as you to have a couple of choices!
