Just wondering what the scope of practice is for CRNAs at Parkland. My boyfriend is an emergency medicine resident and recently had an anesthesia rotation. He said that an MDA was always in the room with a CRNA. I thought this was interesting because Parkland is sooo understaffed everywhere in the hospital, and was also surprised because there are two great nurse anesthesia programs down the road in Fort Worth.
If anyone has info about the "normal" CRNA duties at Parkland (or surrounding hospitals), I would appreciate it.

I beg to disagree on this. Most of the times MDA's are not in the room. They may be present during induction as Parkland does Anesthesia care Team (ACT) but most of the time they are not. There is a great rapport between MDAs and CRNAs in Parkland. Also, RRNAs and Residents work very well in this hospital.

Yes, I second what XIGRIS wrote...very good relationships with MDA's and CRNA's. Lots of autonomy and just a great teaching institution!

I have a choice to do my OB rotation at either JPS or Parkland. I have a friend who works at Parkland OB unit as a RN. She only had good things to say about Parkland.
