My wife and I are looking to make a lifestyle change and move to Colorado. We are currently located in Ohio and looking to move to an area north of Denver along the front range. I have interviewed over the phone for three positions in Colorado. The first position filled immediately and we didn't get it, based on timing because we couldn't get there for an in person interview. The second was a 1099 position and the third paid considerably less than what I'm making in Ohio. I've thought of taking the lower paid position just to get my foot in the door in the area and I've also talked to an agency to help place me. Does anybody have any thoughts on do's and don'ts on applying out of state, Colorado job market, and having an agency work for you in a desirable job market? I understand that this is a state dominated by MD's and CRNA's are slowly making inroads and didn't know if anyone had any comments. THX

I asked the same question not too long ago and the response I got was that all the nice areas to live the MD's have a hold on. They said that you could probably make a decent living in more western CO. Tell me if you hear anything else and good luck with the search.

I am beginning to think it's easier to ask who doesn't want to move to CO? I think you are going to have to be willing to do whatever it takes to land a job in that part of Colorado. Have you considered talking to the CoANA people in hopes of making some connections? How about doing a locums for awhile to introduce the area to your skills?
The message that I got from one prospective employer (I am considering a move, too) when I questioned the amount of call time is that "Hey, everyone else wants to live here, too. I am lucky enough to be able to be very selective." I think it will take good connections and an ability to get there on a moment's notice for an interview, along with a great resume and a mindset that you are not going to get the sweetest deal in the country.
Good luck!
