Hey there AN!!
I am starting a topic that I hope isn't replicating many other topics, but I am a nurse that is thinking about starting a new business but I can't decide if it is a viable option or if there are implications that I can't foresee to this point.
Basically what I am interested in is creating a company run by nurses that would offer services to large and small corporations and the services would be employee health related services. Education, screenings, consultations, answering questions, etc... I know that there are a fair amount out there already but most of them that I've heard of are mainly geared toward large corporations that have huge bottoms lines. What about ones that have smaller bottom lines and therefore need their few workers to stay healthy, and not only their workers but their workers families too. How would I even go about billing this? Or what kind of liability would I be opening myself up to? Any thoughts fellow nurses?

I am no expert, but I have been interested in something similar. The Government site for Small Business Association has been a helpful resource in terms of figuring out payment structures and where to get advice on liability, go to your Small Business Administration site. Also check out what the CDC says on Occupational Health CDC - National Assessment of the Occupational Safety and Health Workforce - NIOSH ....or instance a local Health System had a position for a Wellness Nurse, this RN went to businesses in the area taking BPs and giving Flu Shots to employees ( various sizes)...almost like a Nurse Agency position but not really...whenever I have a bright idea for a job, I do a "pulse check" by going to a job search engine and seeing who is hiring for something similar...looking forward to more helpful answers myself!

I actually do this as an NP for a living. I'm sure it can be done on small scale. My company (I work for, not own) does onsite health screenings for employees. We do BMI, weight, B/P, glucose, A1c, Lipid panel, and liver enzymes.
Let me know if you have any questions!
