Considering PMHNP degree/certification & looking for advice

I've currently been an in patient psychiatric nurse in California for 4 years, nurse for 5. I have previous experience in mental health and a previous Master's in Counseling (I am not a licensed counselor - I had trouble getting my hours and ended up moving states to get married). I am extremely passionate about mental health and a PMHNP seems like a perfect fit for me but I'm scared by stories of difficulty with finding a preceptor, inadequate supervision post-graduation, in adequate time to see patients, my experience with what can go wrong and liability concerns. I was wondering if anyone could give me guidance on if it's still worth pursuing.
