Hello,
I am considering pursuing a nursing degree in Wake county, NC.
I have around 60 hours of credit toward an undergraduate degree, but for various reasons, I am not too interested in finishing the degree.
I am interested in possibly attending WakeTech, but I am unsure at exactly HOW competitive the process is to be accepted into the RN program.
Looking at my credits right now, I have the English requirements and Psychology requirements completed. I do not have any of the Biology requirements completed, nor am I in the process of taking them.
I plan on matriculating NEXT Fall (2014), if I decide to attend WakeTech.
The plan, for now, is to become a CNA-I before the end of this Fall semester and then take BIO: A&P I and at least one other BIO (Nutrition or Microbiology) next semester (Spring 2014) and then finish with BIO: A&P II and the remaining BIO course (Nutrition or Microbiology) in the Summer semester.
Is this a good plan? Should I try to take A&P-I along with BOTH BIOs (Nutrition and Micro) in the Spring so that I only have A&P-II left in the summer? Do I have a chance for Fall 2014 admission with this plan?
Also, considering the point system:
Are all of the grades I have ever taken being taken into consideration for admission or will the admissions officers only pay attention to the grades and completion of prerequisite courses? (I didn't withdraw at one point at a school and received WFs for the semester).
Along the same lines:
Say I receive a D or F in a prerequisite course. If I take it again, will I still have points deducted for having received the D or F or will the retake essentially replace the poor grade?
I think I may have more questions, but this will end my post, for now.
Thank you so much for reading and I look forward to reading the responses!

I went to Wake Tech.
You should be fine taking AP1 with eith of those other BIOs.
You are very smart to get your CNA first.
Grades from other schools do transfer points but im not sure if its 1:1 or not. And points are deduducted for Ds.and Fs. I think it can be retaken, but an A would only give points a B would give.
Its an excellent program, very worth the hard work.
So, the points come from all courses taken, not just the prerequisite courses? I would receive points for all of the 60 credits I have taken?
Thank you for the response!
Isn't CNA required before being accepted into the program at Wake?
Im pretty sure as long as your englishes, math, are under 5 yrs old you can get points for them Also they require 2 psychs, critcal thinking too. Yes they require CNA and TEASE placement test which also gives points.
