Confusion with Schools for nursing pre-reqs - HELP

Published

I am a second degree student who wants to do the accelerated BSN program. I got accepeted to a college that offers this program but needs to do the pre-reqs first before applying to the nursing program . I got a tap award for full time school tuition but my chool wont allow me to be full time seeing that I only have 3 courses outstanding

1. Do i stay in the school and hopefully have a better chance of getting into the program?

2. do i transfer to another school that will allow me to do additional courses to qualify for the free tuition plus take other core courses that other general nursing schools may require?

How will staying at that school give you a better chance of getting into their program versus another program? If you have completed more of the pre-reqs there than you would have at another program then yes.

Can you afford to go to this school without the Tap Award? If yes, then you might as well stay as you will only have to do those three classes. It would be better to stay at this school if the other school choices you have will require you to complete more pre-reqs which will cost more and you may or may not get another scholarship there. You will have to compare programs and see which is the better cost option for you. And there is a chance you could do your pre-reqs and not get accepted into the program, and then you can look at other schools and try to get accepted into those, or wait and try again to be accepted to the school you are in on the next go around. If that happens hopefully they will give you some feed back so you can make what ever needed improvements before you apply again.
