Competition for procedures is so nasty - is anyone else experiencing this?

Our school requires us to pass clinical testing on 9 out of 10 procedures the first time through. We also have to have a passing clinical grade to have our NCLEX paperwork submitted. My current clinical instructor keeps accusing me of "running away from procedures". My problem is that I'm not, but my classmates always seem to end up in my patient's room doing my procedures while I am trying to get an instructor to supervise the procedure with me (we are required to have an instructor present for any invasive procedure). I have seen classmates performing procedures without an instructor present and wonder if I'm supposed to do that instead of waiting for the instructor. Maybe that's why I'm getting accused of not wanting to do procedures? I have had 3 terms of clinicals with excellent evaluations - and have performed all of our procedures during those terms - this is the first time I've had 2 instructors telling me that I will not pass because I do not know what I am doing. HELP. Any advice or input will be gratefully received.

This happened to me a lot at clinicals. Mainly it was the boys who stole my procedures and on occasion my days down in the ER. Just be firm. One of them was helping me clean up my patient and then turned and said to me. " Since I helped you I get to do his foley change." My response was "Hail to the no."

Pull your instructor's aside and point out that your classmates are taking your opportunities. Go to some of the nurses and say next time you do xxx can I do it. When I wanted to practice something I was always say. I will help your with your scut work and am looking for xyz procedure.
