Hi there,
My husband and have just begun considering a move to Sydney from the USA. He has a job opportunity that would begin in about one year. One deciding factor would be whether I too could find work, and I'm having a hard time figuring out what kind of demand there is for nurses who work in my field.
At the time of the move, I'll have about 2 and a half years of nursing experience, but it will all be working as an RN on an Assertive Community Treatment team - a form of intensive outpatient mental health treatment that involves lots of home visits. I like my job and would prefer to continue working in a community setting. Since I don't have experience (besides during nursing school) in a hospital, I'm guessing I'd have a tough time finding a hospital job anyway.
Are there any nurses in Australia who work in community mental health, or a related public health field, who could tell me more about what the job market is like? And, any clues of what agencies, companies, or organizations to look into for job leads would be awesome.
And, yeah, I've looked up the visa and AHPRA requirements :)

I would look at NSW Health Jobs website for any community nursing jobs, as well as look at non-government organisations that do mental health community outreach (A google search). I worked in mental health for a while, and our chronic patients who were discharged from inpatient services to home would often be taken care of by NGO. So don't forget them!
