Hi!

I am set to start the nursing Program at CCRI in Providence next month. Has anyone on here graduated from that program or is anyone currently enrolled? I am just trying to get some info on Nursing 1 and what to expect. Is it possible to work almost full time and attend class or should I try and cut my hours back? Also, do you know if we are able to pick up student nursing shifts at RI Hospital once we are enrolled in Nursing 1? Any info at all would be a great help.

Thanks!

Are you already an LPN or are you a CNA? If not, you cannot work shifts in a hospital. After one semester (and 75 hours of clinicals) you can get your student nurse license, which essentially is a CNA license

Specializes in Acute Care.

No advice- but I too am starting Nursing 1 at CCRI (Lincoln campus). Best of luck!!! I printed the syllabus today! All my exams are already written on my oversized calendar! haha The next 2 years should be quite the ride!

Specializes in Med/Surg.

Hey guys-

I'm a senior in Rhode Island College's nursing program. Just to let you know, there is a RI forum under the "regional" tab on this website. You can get more information about CCRI there.

Also, I was offered a student position at RIH (turned it down due to internship job offer elsewhere), and they require completion of med/surg first. You do not need a CNA or LPN license.

Good luck!
