Common meds

Hi! I'm about to be starting my last semester of nursing school. During that semester we do ER and ICU units. I wanted to get a jump on those topics therefore I was curious if there are common meds that are given very frequently on those units. I would like to brush up on these meds now. Thanks for any help!

We give a lot of meds in the ICU. If I were you I'd have a general overview and general knowledge of the basic medications that people take on a daily basis such as beta blockers, Insulin, etc. now the special drugs we give such as vasopressors, inotopes etc- that will be different at every hospital. Depending on what type of unit your on will dictate what drugs you'll see. A few that I would look up would be levophed, phenylephrine, vasopressin, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone. I think that a good place to start for you- Those are some pretty run of the mill drugs used in alt of places. Good luck.

Thank you for your help! Much appreciated!
