College essay for nursing

hi, im a senior in high school and im planning to major in nursing. My SAT scores are not good, so my only hope is my essay. but i have no clues how to write it. =( can anyone plz help me? i want to be a nurse because of my mom. She had cancer when i was 13, and seeing her go through all the pains, makes me want to be a nurse and help other peoples out. But i am not good at writing and im worry that i won't make it to college. Please help!! i really want to be a nurse and the essay is my only chance.

I think your reason for wanting to be a nurse is admirable. You have personal experience and emotion to put into your essay, which is more than many people do. Is there a specific topic to write about or is this basically a "why I want to be a nurse" essay? In any case, be sure to have several people review your essay to edit it. You may know exactly what you want to say, but if the grammar and structure are not great, admissions will be less likely to consider you college material.

Usually college provide a place for you to explain any low points in your academic history on your application. If your grades were always up to par but your SAT was not so hot, you could explain this. If you suffered emotionally or physically during your time in high school and this affected your grades or test scores, you could also explain this.
