Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi everyone, I've been browsing this website since junior year of high school (im a senior now) and it has really helped me! I have decided to go into nursing next year...I had a few questions. Nursing school is 4 years, correct? 2 years prereqs and two years of actual nursing school (sorry if i sound so dumb I just want to know everything about it). I am applying to a few private schools that have a joint nursing program, and I am applying to a 6 CUNY schools. Is anyone familiar with the cuny schools and the nursing programs they offer? Is it possible to take my prereqs at queens college/queensborough/nassau community or lehman and then switch to a nursing school? Do you recommend taking my prereqs at a community college and then switching to a nursing school? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey there,

Certain CUNY schools have a nursing school built in already i.e Lehman and Hunter. I highly recommend you sticking to a 4 year university as in the end you will end up with a BSN, which is becoming the favorable degree for employers.

Personally I would stick with CUNY as they will be cheap, especially if you are a NYC resident. You want to graduate with the least amount of student loan debt possible.
