Cochran School of Nursing - Spring 2025

Published

Good afternoon to anyone who comes across this post. I realized there wasn't a Spring forum for Cochran and I wanted to see if anyone got accepted because I'm still waiting for a response.

best of luck everyone

Hello!

I applied to the evening program for Cochran. I was wondering if you got accepted? I'm waiting on acceptance and I'm so anxious! How is the program so far?

Hey I did get into the program. The program is decent and your clinicals will be at the hospital attached to the school. Hopefully you get in so I can keep you posted.

Hii

update, I was accepted. I decided to commit here because of the flexibility and it's a good program or so I have heard. What do you think about it? What are the first classes you took your first semester? What do you like/dislike about the school? Thank you so much

You will be taking fundamentals which is a 7.5 credit class and dosage calculation which is 1 credit and  asynchronous. What I will tell you for sure is 1000% make sure to do really good on your first few exams because it may be your saving grace at the end and always pay attention to what the professor says. Make friends but be careful of who you make friends with.

Thank you so much for letting me know, you're so kind. I'm so thankful you responded to me because I'm not sure how to make friends. My cohort is actually big apparently it was mentioned multiple times at orientation. I've been studying a lot for fundamentals already because I'm not sure what to expect and how the tests are like. Would you recommend really using the textbooks mostly? I just find is hard to remember everything but I take the Prep U quizzes on the chapters we read. Safemedicate is not that bad and we just did our first ADA. I'm also very careful with what I share and stuff because sometimes people don't have the best intentions. Hope your semester is going well. Good luck!

So what I suggest is pay attention to what they say and focus more on the power points. honestly didn't focus on the book too much that semester and practice with your PREPU question, it helps with critical thinking. Try and record the lectures if you can because, sometimes you may have missed something that you didn't write down.  The hardest exam is usually fluid and electrolytes that's a test alot of ppl tend to fail . So I would say definitely read that chapter or watch a YouTube video along with your power points to help with that lecture.

You'll do great.

Thank you!! I forgot to reply to you but I appreciate your advice and insight. I am almost done with fundamentals, we have our final on Tuesday. It's crazy how fast time passes when you're so busy LOL. I agree the textbook readings don't really help as much because they only focus on certain topics in the power points. I am doing so well so far and I'm so thankful, I have dedicated myself so much to studying and preparing for exams. I hope you are doing well and continue to prosper in the program!! wishing you the best and happy holidays!
