Hello,
I am a recent college grad with a 4 year degree. I am not yet a nurse so do take everything i say with a grain of salt. I decided what i wanted to do late in college, it was between being a dentist and a lawyer... turned out that i didnt make a competitive gpa for dental school so that was off the table. After shadowing a lawyer I realized this may not be something that my heart is into. With being a dentist off the table I continued to look into health professions and found CNRA. Now i have friends who are nurses and say it is quiet grueling for the pay and were they me they would simply go to law school. I know a lot of people who are in law school after college and that is somewhat of a red flag for me. I do not know anyone who is pursuing anesthesia be it as a doctor or nurse and it seems very interesting as an alternative to becoming a dentist.
As far as knowing myself Ive worked as a waiter through college and i particularly enjoy working on my feet, being able to talk to people all day, and dealing with the general public. I enjoy the idea that as a waiter your skills are easily transferable to another location (or another restaurant) and I imagine as a nurse or nurse anesthetist this is similar. obviously as a nurse youre dealing with peoples lives instead of food and it is much more professional.
Can anyone give guidance as to what got them pursuing this health career and whether or not the time spent becoming a nurse and living that life would be a wise decision for someone with my preferences?
