Hi guys, any positive feedback is appreciated.
i started working in assisted living at the end of October. I run my own cleaning business, so I wanted only a PRN position with mainly days and a few mid nights because I love the elderly and working as aide so so much. This was made clear to my boss when I hired on. One weekend a month is their requirement of me. I was trained on days, and picked up a few of them at first. Since then, I have been offered I'd say 90% evening shift. The only time I work days is if one of the day shift girls takes a day off. The reason for this I can assume is because a lot evening shift gals quit, and they keep hiring on and quitting. One evening shift aide has been working there a couple months and has asked me multiple times to take her shift on very short notice. (Something that's not allowed because the boss has to approve paperwork for this type of thing, you can't just pass your shift off) The other reason is that the aides with seniority all work days. Some even still work evenings. Also, I've been asked to work nearly every weekend.
All of of this is just not working with my schedule, and I'm not getting the shifts I was told I would be able to have. I also only wanted one day a week, and have been working much more. They've tried to put me on evenings for the next six weeks. I've been offered evening shifts much closer to home (this job is 25 minutes away) that I've turned down because I can't work evenings. I picked up a few to help out the team since someone quit and left all their shifts, but it's become clear to me all they have for me is evenings. Even though this is not what I was led to believe in the beginning..I guess I just want to make it clear I didn't hire on to work something and have now decided I can't. The situation is that I'm not being given what I was supposed to be in terms of my shifts.
Assisted living is not government funded, they can only spend so much, and our community is extremely small. 7 aides work in the building. so I want to let them hire someone else that can work what's needed. I don't want to be on staff to always tell them no when they ask if I have availability for a shift.
So all in all, how should I word my resignation letter/two weeks notice?
Sorry this was so long, I love this job and planned on staying here for many years and I'm just so upset that it hasn't worked out. I guess the medical field is not the place for me anymore. When I first became an aide, and I was one day past 18 and had freedom to work the crazy schedules they needed. Now I'm married and have other responsibilities and I can't be running ragged for a job I actually don't need, like I said I'm only there because I love the elderly. I think in the future, perhaps I'll just volunteer.

Have you spoken to your manager about your concerns? I'd do that and let you know that you're thinking of quitting before actually quitting
