CNA test...

Published

Hi - Can someone out there who might have taken the CNA test give me some info? I know it is 60 questions and also that there is a skills test. Are the questions multiple choice? Also for the skills test, do they just make you do one skill or all of them? (that would take forever.) If it is just one, how is it decided which one you do?

I am presently taking a CNA course and the teacher isn't the best. I am wondering if she is just highlighting what we need to know for the state test (she skips over alot) and I should concentrate on everything anyhow. Any advice?

Hello,

This is not the answer you are looking for but I was wondering if you could tell me where you took your CNA class.

Hi I am taking it in Connecticut.

LOL!!! I should have been more specific. What facility are you taking your CNA class at??

hehehe Naugatuck Valley Community College. Got my first test back tonight and got a hundred!!

congratulations!!!!! Keep up the good work.

Have you taken the CNA course, or are taking one now? Maybe you are in my class?:D

I'm not taking the course but I am strongly considering it. I will be starting nursing school in the spring but I was thinking of geting my CNA certification so that I could work some per diem or part-time hours. How much was the couse? How long?

Hi! I looked into taking in through the red cross as it was the same price, but the people that I spoke with in New Haven were just not friendly. They also wanted a person to come in for an interview and then they would send you a letter telling you if you could take the course! New Haven Adult Education actually offers the course for a couple of hundred dollars cheaper, but again I wasn't impressed with the "hoops" that they made you jump through to sign up.

When I contacted NVCC, the people were so nice! The cost is $900 but that includes the state exam cost of $100 or so, which the other places did not include. You can also do a payment plan with NVCC and make the payment in three installments while you take the course. I am doing the accelerated class, which started 6/10 and ends at the end of July. This is 3-4 nights a week, which is pretty intense. There are other CNA courses there that go a bit longer but aren't as many nights. There are day courses as well. The state exam is administered by the instructors and the date is already set unlike the other places where the students have to signup elsewhere for the state exam.

I also liked that they offer a Patient Care Tech program. You need to have the CNA for that, but then you can take a bunch of other advanced courses which will help you to work in a hospital. You even get certificates at the end of each course to show that you have mastered those skills. You can sign up for any number of courses, it is up to the student.

I too am considering nursing school but figured this way I could make some money while taking my prerequisites and see too if I really want to go on to nursing school.

Hope that helps!

Thank you so much. I am going to look into all of those options.

Congrats CTPCTstudent!!!! :yeah: Good going on the test, keep it coming and keep us posted on your progress...

I am still plugging along with my ap course online.... its HARD, and if i was to do it again, I would not take it in the summer or maybe not even online.... will let you know how it comes out in July when I finish.
