CNA Program - Gateway Community College (Phoenix)

Published

Hello! I will hopefully be doing the CNA summer program offered through Gateway Community College in Phoenix, AZ. I plan on getting my CNA, then hopefully going for my LPN or ADN through Gateway, I haven't decided yet. I just wanted to see if anyone else has gone through the CNA program at Gateway and if they had any feedback or tips. Thanks in advance!

Hi there! How was it? Im planning to have it on fall:)

Hi! It's a really great course! My last day is July 27th. The teacher Kristen Woods is an amazing instructor and her main goal is to prepare students to pass the state board exam. We have learned a lot and I definitely feel ready for the boards. Since my class was over summer it was pretty fast paced but it still wasn't too difficult. As long as you keep up with the readings and assignments you will do fine. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I really need your help. Pls pls pls

1. Im from Philippines and Im really new to how education in US goes. I was wondering if you also took CRE101 and MAT classes for this program?

2. Are these prerequisites for ADN and BSN?

3.How was your schedule?all classes(I want to have an idea what your schedule was)

4. What would be the typical classroom setup and usual happenings during NUR158 and other classes?

im really nervous. I just arrived in US this year. Thank you so much!

Hi~

1. I already have my Bachelors degree so I did take a math class previously. I am not sure what the requirement is for the CNA course at Gateway, but you should check with an advisor. I believe you just need to have taken a basic math class.

2. Yes there are a few pre-reqs for ADN or BSN programs. It will vary depending on the school. You can check out the school's website and they will list the pre-reqs. Gateway Community College offers the ADN program and does have the pre-reqs listed on their website.

3. I took the summer course so it was a fast paced class. We met 2-3 times a week for lecture which was 4 hours, and we had lab once a week but only for the first 3 weeks. My clinical rotation ended up being on Saturday and we had 6 of them. Again I took the course over summer so the schedule might be different for the fall semester.

4. At Gateway the classes are smaller. My class has 24 students. For NUR158 the teacher pretty must just lectures the whole time. We have quizzes, reading, and assignments as well.

I hope this helps!
