CNA @ NW Hospital

Published

I've always liked NW Hospital in North Seattle. I was wondering if there are any NW CNA's who could tell of their experiences. I would prefer the ER, but am open. Also curious what the pay is. Thanks in advance!!

I moved here from Texas. I an an RN of 30 years. I worked there for 6 weeks and left. I HATED working there. Lots of micromanagement and nasty physicians.

Hi there,

I work at Northwest Hospital & Medical Center too and have never had any issues with micromanaging managers or nasty physicians. Everyone has been very helpful and collaborative. Overall, the morale is excellent here and everyone works really hard to help each other. It's been a great experience for me. This is the best hospital I've ever worked at.

I know that we do have openings for NACs and Medical Assistants in the Emergency Department. As I understand it, you need to have at least one year of hospital NAC experience or experience working as a MA or Emergency Room Tech or EMT. You should go and apply on line at the website. Good luck. - Jill

I had an absolutely HORRIBLE experience at this facility. I was hired to manage a department. I have 31 years of nursing experience with most of it being in management at the director level. I have always been used to an environment of having a hands off manager who allowed me to take care of problems on my unit and keep her posted by weekly and prn meetings as needed. At this job, I came in at 8:30 or 9:00 am and would find the VICE PRESIDENT of nursing standing outside my door. I did not answer directly to her. I had a director that I answered to, who would not make a decision without going through the vice president. The vice president reviewed EVERY single QA form. No decision was made or anything done without full discussing with and approval from the VP of nursing. The thing that finally put me over the edge was the day we had an hourly meeting to prepare for the meeting that we were having the next day. The pre meeting review was to review what we were going to say at that meeting on the following day. It was made clear what subjects were off limits. Well of course, you would get to the real meeting and someone would ask you the question you were told not to answer. I thought this was way too strange so at 6 weeks I left. I just could not work for people like this. This was a VERY unhealthy work environment. There were some major skeletons in the closet and they seemed to be very afraid that someone was going to find them. I got out of there as soon as I could. Plus, the pay there was soooooo low.
