CNA in need of advice-please read!

HI! I desperately need advice, so please read on:

I'm a Polish midwife with 19 years of experience in hospital-setting in Poland. In the States, however, this does not mean anything until I become certified as a nurse here-in other words, I must start from the very beginning.

I am a CNA but have no hospital experience in the US. For past 5 years, since I came to the US, I have worked as a primary care provider in a home setting, assisted with daily needs- in general, worked with the elderly. Now I feel I'm ready to work at a hospital; I've applied for countless positions but wasn't succesful. Is there any advice you could give me? why is it so difficult to get a cna job in chicago? it's really frustrating, especially for an immigrant like me.
