I've been a cna for more than a year on a med/surg floor. I applied for a transfer work down in our ICU. I have an interview coming up and would like to be prepared as possible for the position. What advice do you cna's in the icu have? I understand the general strength, weakness, and why I want this position questions. I will be researching the types of monitors they use and google the job duties techs perform as well. I understand my role in code blue/cpr situations. Is there anything else I should study or review? Thanks!

I've never interviewed specifically for ICU, but in my interview for a medical oncology floor I was asked to describe my most critical patient and how I cared for them (yes, this was a CNA interview!)- what I found difficult etc. I had no experience so they scrapped that question for me. I was also asked to describe an emergency situation I had been a part of and how I responded. I'd imagine those kinds of questions could come up in an interview for ICU.

Good luck!

They will want to know how you handle high stress situations because they happen often and sometimes at the same time with more than one patient. I remember being asked about my organizational skills since I usually have more than 5 thing's I need to do at once and how I would prioritize( patient care is always first). Good luck!
