CNA grad can't find a job :(

I've been searching for a job in the Chicago area for almost two months, with no luck. Is it just me? Please tell me I'm not the only one...

I've tried in pretty much all the hospitals and nursing homes. Unfortunately, I can't afford a car at the moment, co work in a burb far away from Chicago is out of the question. Ditto working for an agency, they all demand workers have a car.

Yesterday I was so desperate I almost applied for a job at a hospital in the South Side (St. Bernard). Considering I'm a petite white woman, probably not the best idea...

Any thoughts from people who were in a similar situation? Where are the best chances for a CNA with no clinical experience? I would prefer a hospital, because I plan to become a RN and specialize in pediatrics, but I don't exclude nursing homes, since I did enjoy my clinicals at a nursing home :) Maybe I overlooked something...

When I first started applying at hospital's.... they all told me I needed a least a year of experience in a nursing home. Try that or maybe try.. in home care. I'm not sure what your living situation is, but you can stay with the patient for a week, and then go home on the weekends, or vice versa! :)
