CMS new 5 day rap rule eff 1/1/2021

Staff was informed this week the SOC oasis needs be completed within 24 hours of admit. This is due to Medicare's new rap rule which penalizes the agency if the rap is not submitted with 5 calendar days. I see 6-9 patients daily and complete the revisits and recert documentation in the home. The admission oasis is too long and tedious to complete in the home so we are expected to complete it when we get home in the evening. That could take 2 or more hours on complex cases and I am exhausted. There was no mention of any pay merit. I am ready to throw in the towel with home health. Any thoughts?

We've been doing this for a full year. The only exceptions were for weekend SOCs. Now, we're being told that it has to be done on the weekends too. Sometimes you have to know your limits, and if you can't get it done in one day, maybe you need to talk about your daily load. You can't do 10-12 hour days (visits, documentation, and travel time) every day of the week.
