Is anybody else working on getting their health requirement forms filled out to start clinicals in the fall? My mom did not keep track of my shot record so she is having to call my pediatrician from when I was little to see what I've had. I'm going get my tetorifice shot tomorrow.... can anyone tell me about their experince with that? Like any side effects or anything? Is it given in the arm? Just curious... I like to know what to expect. Hopfully its not too horrible... haha! Thanks.

tetorifice vaccine is given every 10 years in the arm. If you cut yourself etc and you have had it five or more years ago, you will also need one.
Its an IM so yes, there is some pain but they use acellular Td vaccine now and the side effects are mostly just pain at the injection site, redness, and sometimes a little swelling. A dose of tylenol and an icepack will help if its too much. You should receive a handout about the vaccine to read before your injection. Read it before you get the shot and it will answer questions.

I needed a Td booster, too. My arm was sore enough to think about getting some Tylenol, but not so bad I ever got around to it. It got really red and swollen, though--that provided my kids with some excitement :).
I ended up having to have blood drawn for titres. And I am still going to get the Hep A series, too. (Not required, but highly recommended and alot cheaper at the school than county health.
Good luck tomorrow!
