Hello all,
I have an interview coming up for a position that is in the ED 10 hour shifts/flexible hours. It is part time, 2 days a week. Anyone else do a shift like this as a Clinical Documentation Specialist? Do you have your own work area, or do you carry around a laptop or workstation on wheels? Also, do you think a position like this would allow for any days to work from home, or would I be in the ED all of the time? I know that these are questions that I will get answered during the interview but my mind in reeling right now. Thanks in advance for any help!
Just wanted to leave an update that I passed the initial phone screening and my application has moved onto the hiring department. I will have to take the J.A. Thomas exam and pass at a 70% before they would even consider me to go through the next interview process. If I don’t get a 70% or higher, the process stops right there.

Hello,
Did you end up passing the JA Thomas exam? Was it hard? I am about to take mine soon. I am nervous. I have no idea what it's like. Any tips will be very much appreciated!

Yep, I passed at an 82%. My nursing background is med-surg, trauma unit and inpatient rehab. I have never working in the ED or ICU. After I took the exam, I wasn’t sure if I passed. I thought at best I may have scored a 70-72% so I was surprised to get an 82%. I would recommend studying. Go through every system (cardio, pulmonary, neuro, ABGs, etc). I used a couple websites to watch videos and I especially liked registerednursern.com. Unfortunately the job I was applying for was eliminated due to the current situation. I was bummed but hopefully there will be another opportunity for me in the future.
Neuro?? Wahhh didn’t really study that system yet. I’m sooo nervous.
Hopefully they’ll need you back when this ends.
