Clep what?

Published

I just received my admissions application from excelsior. It has a list of all the pre-reqs I need. Is anyone familiar with this? I am going to take the clep Sociology on Friday. I was wondering which of the other pre-reqs you can use clep for. I am on the tightest budget right now and I need to go the cheapest route possible. I took psych 101 at my local community college, I didn't see that listed as one of the pre-reqs...just abnormal psych. Does excelsior call it something else? Sorry for all the questions, but I am really lost here. I can pass the tests, I just need to know what to take. Thanks for the help. lisa

Don't know much about Excelsior, but I would venture a guess that since they require Abnormal Psych, they would assume you've taken 101 and maybe that's why you can't CLEP out of that. It could be called Intro to Psych or something like that, but Abnormal is taken after the introductory course.

I have researched online degrees quite a bit and I know you can clep out of everything Excelsior requires. However, there are some classroom courses that may only count as electives for Excelcior (or any other transfer of credits to any other school).

Check with your resource person, s/he will be able to give you specifics.
