Can anyone share their feedback , experience at CVHP and their hospitals, specially Queen of the Valley?? Hope to hear from you guys. Thanks in advance!
Too bad, none can share their experience about cvhp. I am just wondering why Citrus Valley Health Partnes and it's hospital in West Covina have a lot of open RN positions compared to the other hospitals in that area. Do they have problems with retention, are they expanding? Any inputs will be greatly appreciated. I am plannning to join them, but Im having second thoughts...

i am currently an lvn student nurse at one of the 3 citrus valley campuses in west covina. i will tell you that about a month ago there was this huge scandal with rns, lvns, rts, cna's, etc. that work for these 3 specific hospitals. they were either fired or they quit because they were caught with fake cpr cards. :imbar i don't know if that's the cause of all the open rn positions, but i read in the newspaper that they were out about 100 or so people.
thanks for your reply, i heard about that too. so it was not cvhp shortcomings, they were just following the rules. so how is ist "working" in cvhp? how's the staff? management? thanks in advance!
Well, at Queen of the Valley, I've only been an outpatient, so I can't tell you how it is to work there. They were a little slow in the ER department but I guess it all depends on what you're there for and who is available to see you at the moment. The triage is OK I guess. The hospital changed campuses I think about a year ago so I'm trying to remember my experiences there cuz I went there a lot.
I have worked as a student at Intercommunity in Covina. The staff on the 2nd floor were not as friendly or so I heard. It seemed to be more hectic on that side. The staff on the 3rd floor were friendly and helpful. It is a nice environment and I guess typical of a med-surg unit. I think on the second floor there is an oncology unit, med-surg split into North and South units: one of them being orthopedics where I worked. On the orthopedic side is where there are less patients and more equipment to go around. It's a more "quiet" environment.
I am now assigned to Covina Rehab, right behind Intercommunity, which is more sub-acute and long-term care. It is a nice environment. :wink2: The nurses and staff are super helpful and so grateful that we are there to help. There is a constant need for supplies as they are terribly under-financed so you have to scramble to get them while they last. 2nd floor is sub-acute with pts. on vents and trach'd. There are some pts. there for rehab that get therapy every day. I have yet to go on to the 3rd floor which is LTC. That will be in about 4 weeks. I "heard" that they were not as nice up there but I don't know that for sure.
I haven't gone to the other campus in Glendora, but I hear from some of my classmates that it is a nice hospital and that they want to work there if they can after graduation.
Hope this helps..!! :wink2:

Thanks so much for sharing. I dont know if I am going to accept the job or not, because it's a little farther than my current hospital. I really dont mind the people (it's a given that there's a lot of personalities out there) it's the set-up am worried about and the benefits. Also, I will be taking calls and my position depends on census so Im worried about being called-off.
Thanks again!
You're welcome!!
