Hello,
I am currently attempting to decide on a CRNA Program. I have been accepted into both Old Dominion and the University of Pittsburgh. I am currently trying to decide on which program will suit me in the long run.
I know that Pitt is highly recognized as a leader in the field, but Old Dominion was a very welcoming and knowledgeable faculty as well. Both schools provide a large variety of clinical sites. Old dominion is a front loaded program while Pitt is a hybrid program. My biggest issue with Pitt is the fact that I am out of state and the program costs ~205K for out of state students while old dominion is significantly less (approx 100K).
I am trying to figure out if it is worth the large amount extra to attend Pittsburgh. My ego of course would want the recognition of Pittsburgh, but I find it very difficult to splurge if Old Dominion will be as great of a program as I am anticipating due to its faculty and curricular overhaul that occurred a few years ago.
I know it is a very personalized decision that must be made, I am just hoping for some sort of insight as it will be three years of my life and my doctorate degree that prepares me for my future career and its absolutely terrifying thinking of making a choice that could impact my future practice.
Thank you for comments!
