CHM130 Online at Phoenix College

Published

If this has been asked before, I apologize. I searched for it, but it only pops up about when the lab was not being offered online.

Has anyone taken the CHM130 lecture and lab at phoenix college? How hard did you find it to be? I am super nervous to take it. I only have CHM130 and PSY101 left to take, so I am trying to decide if I should take it seperate or if I would be okay to take them together if CHM130 is not that hard. Also wanted to know if everything is done online or if the final or anything is done in person.

I took BIO201 online through phoenix college and absolutly loved it. Before that I took BIO156 at Rio, and will probably never take another class from Rio again.

Thanks.

I would honestly take chem in a class if you can instead of online. I have taken sciences both in class and online, and while most would be ok in the online version, chem seems like it would be easier to nderstand in the classroom. I took chem in class and had a great instructor. The only part that seems it would be easier to learn in class is chemical equations, which is half the class. They start out pretty easy to understand, but get more and more complicated so it was nice to have an instructor present and teaching the material so I could ask questions. I am great in Math and Science so it is not an understanding of the type of subject that is an issue. If you have to take it online for scheduling reasons, then try emailing the instructor listed and see if you can get a copy of the syllabus, and ask what his communication is like. Is he/she avail to answer questions by email 7 days a week? Is the turn around on emails within 24 hours or is it up to 3 days? Stuff like that. You may understand and not need any help, but if you do get stuck, you need to know that the instructor will be there quickly to help.

All that being said, I personally found chem to be the easiest of all the sciences. Psy 101 was also very easy. Its just reading and memorizing and the subject material is interesting. You could really take psy 101 with any of the sciences and do ok because it was that easy to learn. And I found chem easy because there are 'rules' to everything. Like math, there is a reason for everything that happens and the science aspect was interesting. Id say if you are good in math and find sciences interesting, then it will be aeasy for you too. If you struggle with either, just make some time to use students resources, like tutoring and such, at the school when you have time. GL and sorry for the long response
