Chicago market for new RNs

Nurses General Nursing

I am considering direct entry MSN vs. ABSN vs. ADN routes as I have a bachelors in psychology and what end degree would best serve me. I'm in Chicago. I'm aware the magnet hospitals here only accept BSN or higher. Is it difficult to get a job at Northwestern, Rush, or U of C with a BSN? I also know there's a nursing shortage but I'm curious how much that is true in Chicago. Also, I'd be interested in psychiatric nursing.

I recommend getting a BSN instead of ADN if you are able to pay for it. All Chicago area hospitals are hiring, you won't have any trouble getting a job with a BSN! If you want to advance your education and do a direct entry MSN that's also a great route, but it's definitely not necessary for a job. Good luck!
