Hello all. I recently was hired at Charlotte Regional and have an upcoming appointment for my physical and drug screen. Is anyone familiar with their drug testing process? Is it the usual five panel dip with immediate results? Is it more than a five panel? Do they ask for a RX list up front or only if positive results? I DO NOT USE STREET DRUGS OR TAKE ANY DRUG NOT PRESCRIBED TO ME! I just dont like having to disclose my RX's to someone in employee health that I may have to see on a regular basis. If I have to I will, but I am just a firm believer that if patients have the right to privacy so do I. I would not feel it was an invasion if the testing was out sourced, but telling people you will be working along side your personal medication list, iMHO is just not appropriate. SO if anyone knows anything about the drug screening process for CRMC please share. I assume its urine, on site, and instant, but I am hoping its out sourced. Or if it is just a standard five panel then my RX is not included anyway. Thanks for any input!!

I am not supposed to say anything, but I can tell you with 100% certainty that Charlotte Regional does not do their drug testing or background screening in-house. It is all outsourced to a third party employment screening company. I hope this sets your mind at ease. If you have any other questions, PM me.
I can not figure out how to send you an email or pm. I know the background screen was being done somewhere else because they called to register me and I have to go get fingerprints done, but I was told I was having my pre employment physical and drug screen done at employee health when I go to do my paperwork. Are you saying that is not the case? If you have the ability to send me a pm please do so. Or if not please reply what you can. Thanks for all your help.

You will be able to send PM's once you have 15 posts.
Also......it's not a good idea to share your name on a public board such as this.
Thanks! :)
Thanks for the advice butterfly and I am definitely not comfortable sharing my name. No offense to you brighteyed, but I don't see why it matters. In any event I have already completed all of my pre-employment process so thanks:)

Now that you have worked a few months at Charlotte Regional, how do you like it? I have an interview there soon and would like some input. What is starting pay for a new nurse? How are the benefits? Do they train you well and is it a nice place to work?
THanks for all the help
Its ok. Benefits are great and reasonably priced and start after only 30 days. However, their pay rate is horrible. It is the lowest in all of southwest FL and their shift dif for nights is not much better. I am trying to get into another system as we speak. If I get the position it will be 300 more every two weeks and I won't have to spend the extra 100 on gas for a 45 min drive each way. If you take the pay situation away it would be great, but its already hard to get a decent wage as a RN in FL and Charlotte is the lowest of the low.
Thanks for the info. it seems that the pay in Fl is very low compared to other states, esp. for a new nurse. But the job market is so bad right now, I am willing to take anything, get the experience and then move on. Florida Hospital in Orlando is another place that I am interested in, do you know anything about the quality there?
Thanks again, and best of luck to you
I don't know specifically the pay, but I know it is better than Charlotte and there seem to be alot more opportunities because they have a big system. If it were a choice between the two I would def go with Orlando. I know exactly what you mean. Getting the first year of experience is so hard anymore. Three years ago the hospitals would hire you the second you had your eligiblilty letter for the NCLEX they were so desperate for help. NOW... it takes months to get that first hire.... and it probably won't be the unit you want. You have the right attitude though....take what you can, get that year of experience and then start putting apps out for what you really want!! Good Luck!!
Thanks for the help. I hope everything works out for you
