Dear Nurses and Care Assistants,

My name is Gediminas Grinevicius and I am a BSc (Hons) Psychology student at University of Bedfordshire. For my final year research dissertation I will be investigating how challenging behaviours that are sometimes expressed by elderly people in care facilities may affect nurses and care assistants. I will be looking at its impact on job satisfaction, wellbeing and coping strategies of the caring staff and whether individual differences has any influence on these outcomes.

I am looking for participants working in non-NHS nursing homes and day care facilities around UK with elderly residents. I would be very grateful if you would participate in my study by filling in a questionnaire. The questionnaire can be accessed by clicking on the following link:

This study is likely to enhance the understanding of how caring for the elderly may impact on the wellbeing and job satisfaction of staff. Insight into this issue is required due to the nature of this type of work.

This research will be conducted under the guidance of my supervisor, Professor Gail Kinman at the University of Bedfordshire ([email protected]). The project is cleared by the University Ethics Committee. Any information received will be confidential and anonymous. No names will be recorded and all participants will have the right to withdraw from the study at any time.

If you agree to participate in this research it is likely to be of great benefit to caring personnel, by highlighting ways of enhancing wellbeing and job satisfaction in carers.
