Hi everyone,

I received an invitation for interview with St. Mary's University School of Anesthesia, in Minessota. :) Brrrrrrrrrrrr.

Does anyone have any experience with them? As far as interview questions, styles, etc?

Any input will be much appreciated.

Thanks again!

V.

I interviewed at St. Mary's last spring. It took 10 minutes. Just a few 'get to know you' questions and 'why do you want to be a CRNA' type questions. It was a one-on-one with the director. I could have done the interview over the phone, but I decided to fly out there since I had never been to Minneapolis before. I had a great time and loved Minneapolis but the interview was a waste of time. A friend of mine who is about to graduate from there had his interview via telephone from his sunroom, he had no problems getting in. I was #2 on the wait list and was then offered a spot a few months ago.

The school itself seems fairly laid back and not as intense as some of the other programs out there. They have limited regional, line and trauma experience, but they have good pass rates on the boards and in the end, their CRNAs do just fine.

Minneapolis, although cold, is a great city! PM me if you have any other questions.

Hi everyone, I have also been viewing this site for several months-first post. Thanks to everyone who participates, it's great. I applied to SMU and am checking my mailbox everyday-hoping for an invite to interview:rolleyes: Did you just get a letter in the mail? I am nervous because my experience was 6 years in NICU/IICU and the last 4 in PICU-PCVICU. SMU was very nice and said that my experience qualified but I believe that all you adult ICU RNs have a little better shot. Luckily I had a 3.72 GPA for my BSN. I heard that SMU's interview process is very casual and that the director does phone interviews for out of state candidates. I am here in Seattle (don't want to move anywhere) but am willing to do whatever it takes to go to CRNA school. SMU is my first application...they didn't require the GRE so I was able to just jet an app. in. BRRRR is right, but I have only heard good things about living in the Minneaplois area.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU, I HOPE WE ARE CLASSMATES SOMEDAY!!!!

Hi,

I got the letter yesterday. I believe I applied last October 2003.

I will be doing a phone interview in May 2004.

I dunno about the PICU vs MICU advantage. Maybe there is truth to that. But, I am not sure.

Otherwise, goodluck and hopefully you'll get a letter soon.

V.

thanks for the info. my application was complete 3/19 2004 for deadline 4/1 for May 2005- so I guess I'll try to relax a little...
