Reference Book Recommendations

Specialties CRNA

Published

I would like to ask the students and CRNAs on this forum what they would recommend as a good general anesthesia reference book to have with you in the OR.

It is time for me to upgrade my library. i always keep a few books in my anethesia machine for quick reference and would like to know what is good.

Thanks,

Yoga

i forgot the title but the author is Ezekial. its a quick reference guide.

Clinical Anesthesia (the handbook) by Barash.

For an all around general reference, my vote would go to Barash (full version). But it doesn't really fit the "quick reference" category.

I have not used it that much myself, but I have heard good things about "Essence of Anesthesia Practice" by Roizen. It has one page summaries of procedures and diseases, both common and unusual. It works as a quick reference, but is not pocket sized.

What I have used the most post-school is "Anesthesia and co-existing disease" by Stoelting. I like it for those "I haven't seen one of those since school, and I have one scheduled for tomorrow" moments. (There is finally a fourth edition out)

How do guys feel about making the recommended reference list a "sticky", much like the FAQ section?

I think it would be nice to have a permanent section that got updated PRN with what students/CRNA's felt were the most useful references.

Is that giving too much advertising?

Morgan and Mikhail's Clinical Anesthesiology by Lange. It is a great book!
