CDU vs CSU for Bachelor of Nursing

I am looking at studying the Bachelor of Nursing either internally at CSU or externally with CDU and want to know what peoples thoughts are of either university... I have heard alot of bad things about CSU and a few good things about CDU however just want to get a few more opinions please :) Good and Bad experiences...

I have studied at both, started at CDU then changed to Csu. Each Uni has it's good and bad points, but I would take Csu any day. They are much more organised in terms of residential schools and also pracs. They release calendars of when each things are at the end of sept for the next year.

Csu is more demanding in terms of course work, but personally, I think that's better. Csu also has more prac for students.

I totally agree with and strongly like your opinion. CDU is not as practical as the other. My first placement would be after the end of second year while some universities are willing to offer theirs for the first year. I'm tired of essays, research, powerpoint and online tests that don't help me much in gaining the skills I need.

I hate what is called "Critical Thinking" or "You need to know what's going on behind nursing process". Nursing is still "nursing", not "Medicine". If you do not have innate propensity for nursing, you will be the same as you are, no matter how critically you think. The nature of nursing is not understood in the right way anymore. That's what happen in CDU now, i'm not sure how it was at your places.

Has it changed? When I was there a few years ago, we did 3 weeks placement in 1st year, 4 weeks in 2nd year and 12 in 3rd year I think. I left a few weeks before I was due to do the 2 year placement. I knew uni SA didn't have placement until 2nd year.

I do agree that the online tests do nothing for your own thinking hence why I think CSU is better in that they have a lot more sit down exams. They also have specified exam centres (you nominate your closest one to do your exams) and they organise everything. If you are distance at CDU, you have to organise your own and hope it all works out!

I'm currently doing the bridging course through CDU to start my BNUR next year. For my maths exam I was given a time and a date that I had to turn up to my nearest exam center as I live within 80km of one. In my case it was JCU in townsville.

I've just had a look at the website for CDU as well and there appears to be one placement in 1st year, 2 in 2nd year and 2 in 3rd year.
