Case mgmt/your/MDS/etc ... what is the best work from home route for me (RN/BSN) to follow?

Nurses General Nursing

Hello all! I am a 29 year old RN/BSN currently functioning as a supervisor (essentially a charge nurse/admissions nurse) at a SNF in South FL. The bulk of my experience is in chart review/chart auditing - I previously worked for an independent contracting company doing concurrent audits, charge capture, and the likes for hospitals around the country. I loved that job, but was unfortunately laid off when we lost a good portion of our clientele. It hit me that I needed to amass clinical experience before it was too late, at least to be able to say that I had it. I had no success getting into a hospital which wasn't shocking to me but disappointing. Anyway, I have been both a floor nurse and supervisor at a SNF for a year now and I'm grateful for what I have learned. I was offered an opportunity in Texas for a one month contract in Med-Surg which I am seriously considering.

Felt that I needed to give a little background to get to my questions, sorry if that was wordy ? I have a plan for my life that I want to make happen sooner rather than later. I know that I do not want to remain in long term care/SN nor do I want to work in the hospital setting. I want to return to working from home... that is the life I see for myself and the family that I want to build in the next few years. I am an experienced auditor but I don't have any certifications and when I fully return to that realm I want to be maximizing my resources/potential and making good money.

-I am interested in telephonic case management / utilization review / HEDIS and so on. Anyone in these fields who can give insight as to which field is most considerable/advisable?

-Are there specific certifications that are advisable for me to get?

-Any other recommendations?

Thanks so much for your input!
