It's been a few years since I have lived in CG but my folks did and the town has really 'grown' up over the last 2-3 years. It has been a pretty poor town, farming community with very little real industry, other than services. I think this is changing somewhat with more and more real estate being sold, houses being built and so forth. I would tell you that the education system will not be the best in the state, by far. I would not want to have my kids in a public school in CG and probably wouldn't choose to live there either. I think the regional medical center is okay, probably one of the better features of the town. Pretty high hispanic and Indian population, which really adds to the poverty level, unfortunately.

I did my CNA training at CGRMC and I was very underwhelmed about the place to say the least. I found a lot of the staff to be unfriendly and it lacked the variety and scale of a larger, metropolitant hospital. If you don't mind a small regional hospital where your learning curve will be limited, then you will find CGRMC to your liking.

Lots of new housing around the area - which is nice and affordable. But the schools are crappy, and the surrounding town(s) even crappier. Then again, I'm from NY and find most of the schools in Arizona to be pretty terrible anyway, though it is funny to hear people argue that their school district is so great - kind of like winning the shortest midget contest.

That said, you can live in some really nice Phoenix communities and easily commute to CGRMC. Without traffic, I used to make it to CG in 45 minutes from downtown Phoenix. You can live in Tempe or Chandler and do even better in terms of cultural amenities, shopping, restaurants, etc.

I would keep away from the place, unless you are that desperate to leave the UK.
