I will be attending the Carolina Summer Research Institute Course "Qualitative Analysis 1: Empirical/ Analytical Methods" at UNC- Chapel Hill, from Monday, June 4th through Thursday, June 7th. This course will be facilitated by the renowned qualitative nursing research expert, Margarete Sandelowski, PhD, RN, FAAN. Professor Sandelowski is Director and Principal Faculty of the Summer Program in Qualitative Research at UNC School of Nursing. This distinguished professor is a prolific qualitative researcher who has published widely in the areas of qualitative and mixed-methods research methodology. She has more than 120 publications in both nursing and social science journals and books, with over 35 refereed papers on qualitative methods alone. She is currently a principal investigator (PI) of a NIH/NINR-funded study (R01NR012445, September 1, 2011-June 30, 2016) "Mixed-methods synthesis of research on childhood chronic conditions and family." Dr. Sandelowski is one of three associate editors of Research in Nursing & Health, and a member of the editorial boards of Advances in Nursing Science, Field Methods, Journal of Mixed Methods Research, Nursing Inquiry, and Qualitative Health Research. She is internationally recognized for her expertise in qualitative methods.
I am very thankful to be able to participate in this outstanding learning opportunity. I believe it will help me tremendously in launching my dissertation research. I will share the highlights of this marvelous learning experience in the Nursing Research Forum when I get back.
